This training has been developed to assist participants in understanding how
to take the basic principles of Permaculture design and apply them on a
land-based project. While a few days is insufficient time to fully observe a
site and come up with a design, a lot can still be learned.
This training takes participants through a hands-on land-based design
process on a real site, bringing Permaculture theory to life.
It is useful for anyone stewarding land, from gardeners to smallholders and
No former Permaculture training is required, although those who have
previously received some will be a step ahead. Some pre-training reading can
be provided to ensure that all participants start the course with at least an
understanding of Permaculture basics.
The training takes the participants through the following design stages:
Identifying site design aims and objectives.
Site surveying and observation.
Maps and mapping.
Analysis of information gathered using Permaculture tools and methods.
Concept design and feedback.
Implementation and maintenance planning.
Final design proposal and presentation.
